ZARA Expands Food Relief Into Queens Public School as Holiday Costs Squeeze Families

ZARA Charitable Foundation has expanded its food relief efforts by launching a new monthly school pantry at P.S. 182Q in Queens, in partnership with The Child Center of New York and Mannan Supermarket, to support families facing rising grocery costs, especially during the holiday season. The program now serves more than 80 families, or approximately 250 individuals, and builds on ZARA’s proven Give&Go model, which has delivered over one million meals across New York City in the past 32 months. With food insecurity affecting nearly one-third of adults in Queens and grocery prices remaining significantly higher than pre-2021 levels, the pantry provides free, culturally familiar groceries to reduce household food stress, support student focus and well-being, and strengthen the school community, with plans to grow its reach to more than 1,500 individuals monthly in 2026.
